Spanish Language Courses

SPAN 1010/1020 - 2010/2020: BASIC TO INTERMEDIATE SPANISH

Built a foundational understanding of Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation through structured practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These courses established the knowledge and confidence needed to progress in my Spanish studies. â€‹

SPAN 3050 INTERMEDIATE SPANISH CONVERSATION AND COMPOSITION 1

Focused heavily on speaking and listening, with regular conversation practice, pronunciation work, and supporting written assignments. Gained confidence speaking spontaneously and improved my overall fluency.

SPAN 3060 SPANISH COMPOSITION FOR BUSINESS

Practiced writing professionally in Spanish, with an emphasis on clarity, tone, and business-specific vocabulary. Useful in learning how to communicate effectively in professional and international settings.

SPAN 3999 ADVANCED CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH: DAILY & PRACTICAL USES (BARCELONA)

An immersive, conversation-based course centered on real-life communication through discussions, interviews, presentations, and cultural activities. The daily use of Spanish greatly improved my fluency and cultural awareness.

SPAN 3140 HISPANIC LINGUISTICS

Examined how Spanish works as a language, including sound systems, grammar, meaning, and linguistic change.

SPAN 3160 SPANISH FOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS 1

Introduced the language and cultural expectations of Spanish-speaking business environments through real-world scenarios and commercial texts. I learned how cultural norms shape professional communication.

SPAN 4160 SPANISH FOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS 2

Built on earlier business Spanish coursework by exploring economic, political, and social issues affecting Hispanic markets. I became more comfortable discussing global business topics in Spanish. 

Spanish Language Work Samples

This document demonstrates my linguistic ability by presenting my written Spanish responses from an exam in my Spanish for International Business 2 course. 

This document is a short essay written in Spanish that analyzes a cultural case study from my Spanish for International Business 2 class. 

Written in both English and Spanihs, this report examines how Amazon leverages artificial intelligence. It was completed to fulfill my honors contract for my Spanish for International Business 1 course.

SPAN 3070 SPANISH CIVILIZATION AND CULTURE (BARCELONA)

Explored Spanish history and contemporary culture while developing advanced speaking and writing skills. I gained a deeper understanding of how Spain’s history influences modern cultural practices.

Read and analyzed poetry from Spanish and Latin American authors.

Spanish Culture and Literature Work Samples

This document presents my written Spanish responses to a Spanish Literature exam focused on  poems from La Edad Media (the Middle Ages).

While studying abroad, I interviewed my internship manager and a team member to gain a deeper understanding of their culture and perspectives. This paper highlights the key insights I gained from those interviews.

MGT 3030 GLOBAL BUSINESS

Explored how businesses operate across borders, including trade, investments, and institutional differences. Reinforced my interest in working in global business environments.

Learned how marketing strategies adapt across cultures through company visits, presentations, and cultural experiences abroad. Seeing international marketing in practice made the concepts much more tangible.

Developed sales and communication skills through role-plays and presentations. Strengthened my confidence and interpersonal communication abilities.

MKT 4300 PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

Analyzed product strategy, lifecycle management, and brand decision-making through a semester long project. Developed strategic thinking around product and brand management.

MKT 3020 CONSUMER BEHAVIOR

Studied how psychological, social, and cultural factors influence consumer decisions. Gained a clearer understanding of how consumers define value.

ECON 3190 ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS

Examined environmental issues through an economic lens, focusing on policy and regulation. Gained insight into how economic tools can address sustainability challenges.

ECON 2110 PRINCIPLES OF MICROECONOMICS 

Studied how consumers and firms make decisions and how different market structures affect outcomes.

ECON 3140 INTERMEDIATE MICROECONOMICS

Continuation of ECON 2110. Worked with economic models to analyze value, distribution, and market behavior. Strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills.

Business & Relevant Coursework Samples

This reflection paper explores my two-week experience studying international marketing abroad in London and Paris, where I learned from local companies and engaged in various cultural activities.

This paper analyzes the economic, environmental, and social impacts of the Smoky Hallow Park Project in Raleigh, NC.

From my freshman year public speaking course, this speech informs the audience on the Opioid Crisis in the United States and demonstrates my public speaking skills.
